Comprehensive Police Reform must include but not be limited to the followings:
Ensuing the public and officers' safety
* officers must be trained every year on how to actually de-escalate conflicts
*Officers must be required to render aid and medical attention.
*Officers must be required to see a mental health professional regularly.
Better Screening Process:
*Those applicants with anti-social behavior must be weeded out.
*On-going classes in Cultural Sensitivity
* officers cannot shoot at moving vehicles
* officers cannot use tasers and deadly and excessive force on persons who have already been restrained. They cannot use force against a person who is hand-cuffed or restrained.
* officers cannot shoot or use tasers on someone simply because he is fleeing, and officers cannot use a taser on an unarmed nonviolent individual who is only suspected of a minor crime.
* officers must be required to provide "life-saving aid" whenever they use force against a suspect when a suspect has been tased or shot by police
* officers must conduct all investigatory stops, searches, and arrests in a manner that protects people's rights
* officers must provide equal protection of the law for all individuals, including providing impartial policing services
* officers must issue a verbal warning before any use of deadly force
* officers must use appropriate de-escalation techniques and attempt to resolve incidents without force when possible
"Police criminology needs to be treated the same as any other criminology."
* officers must use force in a manner that is proportional to the threat presented
* officers must transport detainees in a manner that keep them safe
* officers must respect the First Amendment rights of all persons
* allegations of police misconduct must be fully, fairly, timely, and efficiently investigated
* "No" to qualified immunity
* The Police Department must instruct and dispatch officers who are properly trained in interacting with people in crisis or with behavioral health disabilities and challenges when a police response is appropriate
* officers must be judged by a reduction in crime and not by the number of people they stop or the number of people they arrest
*End immunity for police officers when they commit crimes.
*The police officers' Goal is to Patrol and not to Control.
The same swift justice executed when police officers are victims, we want that same swift justice executed when police officers are perpetrators.
We pray for a drastic reduction in crime and for safer communities.
